Explanation from BPPTKG Head of the Geological Disaster Research and Development Technology Center (BPPTKG), Agus Budi Santoso, said that they couldn't confirm the bright object passing over Mount Merapi on Thursday (16/3/2023) night. This is because, from their CCTV monitoring of Mount Merapi, there was no visible bright object passing over during the specified time and day. "The visuals from BPPTKG CCTV cameras are foggy from Tunggularum and Pos Ngepos (there is no bright object passing over)," said Agus to Kompas.com on Friday (17/3/2023).

The CCTV footage at Pangukrejo Station to Jrakah showed the same result. "Not visible," said Agus. He said that the footage of the bright object passing over Mount Merapi was not obtained from BPPTKG's CCTV monitoring. "It's not from our station location.
